This guide will help you configure SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records for Loops to ensure your outgoing emails are properly authenticated and protected from spoofing. Email authentication verifies that messages sent from your domain are legitimate and haven’t been tampered with during delivery.
SPF (Sender Policy Framework) specifies which mail servers are authorized to send emails on behalf of your domain, DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) adds a digital signature to verify message integrity and authenticity, and DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance) builds on SPF and DKIM to define how receiving servers should handle unauthenticated emails while providing visibility through detailed reports.
Step 1: Configure MX Record for Loops
1. Get started with Loops by registering your domain name.
2. Loops will automatically prompt you to set up email deliverability.
3. On the Improve Email Deliverability page, you will find your DNS records.
4. Start with the MX record.
5. Copy this record.
6. Log in to your DNS Management Console, select your domain, and click “Manage” in Advanced Settings (This step may vary depending on your DNS hosting provider).
7. Add a new MX record and paste the contents in their respective fields
8. Save the changes and allow your DNS some time to propagate.
Step 2: Set Up Loops SPF Record
9. Then, set up the SPF record for Loops.
10. Copy this record.
11. Log in to your DNS Management Console, select your domain, and click “Manage” in Advanced Settings (This step may vary depending on your DNS hosting provider).
12. Add a new TXT record and paste the contents in their respective fields
13. Save the changes and allow your DNS some time to propagate.
Step 2: Set Up Loops DKIM Record
14. Now, set up the DKIM records for Loops.
15. Copy this record.
16. Log in to your DNS Management Console, select your domain, and click “Manage” in Advanced Settings (This step may vary depending on your DNS hosting provider).
17. Add 3 new separate CNAME records and paste the contents in their respective fields
18. Save the changes and allow your DNS some time to propagate.
Step 4: Implement Loops DMARC Record
DMARC helps you decide what happens when an email from your domain fails authentication and provides reports for visibility. Loops already recommends a DMARC record for you to publish on your DNS, with an enforced policy.
