Go the Extra Mile For Your Brand, Go BIMI
Use the power of your brand to make your emails stand out as secure and authentic
Use the power of your brand to make your emails stand out as secure and authentic
Brand Indicators for Message Identification, or BIMI, is a standard similar to DMARC, SPF and DKIM — it’s a way to verify if an email is authentic or not. However, BIMI does something different.
It attaches your organization’s logo next to the email, so when someone sees your email in their inbox, they immediately see your logo next to it. If the email is fake (from an unauthorized sender), the logo won’t appear, making it easy to distinguish from real mails.
While SPF and DKIM require authentication from receiving servers, BIMI exists to confirm authenticity when the email is already in the inbox.
BIMI is a way for humans to recognize if an email is genuine or not. To implement BIMI, you need to have a square SVG file of your logo stored in HTTPS. The URL is stored in a TXT record that’s published to your DNS.
When you send an email, the receiving server authenticates it for DMARC. If the email passes, the server finds your BIMI text record and finds the SVG file containing your logo image. Once it finds the image, it will affix the logo right next to the subject line of your email, clearly visible in the inbox.
But you might still be wondering…
So glad you asked. These are the best things about BIMI:
Yes! Your domain needs to have DMARC deployed with a policy of p = quarantine or reject, with both SPF and DKIM enabled. You have to develop a good reputation as a sender for email receiving servers to see you as a trusted source. This means following email best practices and deliverability guidelines. Your track record determines whether or not the email receiver will display your BIMI-based logo. There’s no time to waste, you better get started!
When you sign up for a DMARC deployment with PowerDMARC, you’re also getting BIMI implementation on the house. Building your brand literally couldn’t get easier.
With PowerDMARC, getting your very own BIMI-based logo isn’t just easy, it’s fast. Once your DMARC is enforced, just upload your logo image, click one button and get a BIMI DNS record ready to be published. Zero hassle.
BIMI is one of the newest email verification standards out there. The quicker you act, the easier it will be to build your brand image.
